i shall try to be the first person to do a track by track review of every song on the merzbox (i wonder how long it will take me to get sick of this?)
OM Electrique Part 1 (31:18):
6 minutes in, DRRRRRM DRRRM DRRRM in the background with plinging sounds, it's been like this for most of the song.
6:44: it's speeding up!! OH WAIT NEVER MIND MORE DRRRM DRRRM DRRRM
9:04: speeding up again, this time with crackling!!! exciting!
11:10: great, it's changed from DRRRM to WHIRRRRR. sounds like he's bashing a couple of pots together in the background.
13:35: holy shit, he's mixing DRRRM with WHIRRRR! master of innovation right here folks
20:59: DRRRRRRRRRRRM with added distortion. after a while the plinging comes back.... nothing else happens.
OM Electrique Part 2 (7:55):
0:01: ok so is this just the same as the last track, except louder? what the hell?
2:50: DRRRRRRRRRRRRM and plinging. after 5 minutes of this, the song ends.
Untitled Taped Drum Solo (9:01)
0:10: SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
1:20: dear merzbow, SCREEEEEEEEEEE is not a drum solo. i recommend learning what drums are.
3:18: woah, there are actually drums on this song! only took 3 minutes for them to arrive! there's an annoying beeping noise, but this is actually pretty decent!
7:20: i like this. it's kind of tribal. who knew merzbow could actually play an instrument!
Untitled Guitar Solo (9:24):
1:07: i have no idea if this is supposed to be a guitar
3:30: oh there it is
4:00: not content with using electronics to make SCREEEEEEEEEEE noises, merzbow decides to use a guitar. how creative!
6:00: apparently merzbow only knows how to pull one string at a time and make high-pitched noises with his guitar.
9:00: THAT WAS NOT A GUITAR SOLO
in conclusion, i recommend this album to people who like plinging noises.
WHY DID I WRITE THIS MUCH
